Ginko IT is a Melbourne-based managed service provider supporting clients across five Australian states. With a strong footprint in the construction and SMB sectors, the business delivers end-to-end IT services – spanning backups, virtualisation, remote access, and infrastructure management.
They’ve built a reputation on responsiveness and technical breadth, acting as a one-stop IT partner for businesses ranging from small trades to national construction firms. As their customer base grew, they saw the need for a more robust infrastructure strategy – one that could shift alongside their clients' needs.
Ginko recognised early that their hosting model – managed by a single operator in a Sydney data centre – had served its purpose but wasn’t aligned with the scale and resilience their clients would increasingly require. They made a deliberate decision to find an infrastructure partner who could help them modernise, simplify, and grow with confidence.
The original hosting setup had supported Ginko through their formative years. As their operations evolved, the team identified opportunities to further enhance redundancy, performance, and support. With an eye on long-term service quality and scalability, they mapped out a path to a modern, fit-for-purpose environment.
We’ve always held ourselves to a high standard of service. As our clients grew, we knew we had to grow with them. I could see the opportunity to strengthen our infrastructure – to build in more resilience and ensure we were always one step ahead of what our clients needed from us.

Ginko took the initiative to assess their infrastructure and prepare for the future. Security was top of mind, particularly as they reviewed architecture involving shared resources, open ports, and limited network segmentation control.
Their forward planning paid off when their hosting partner’s upstream provider ceased operations without notice. Having already scoped a transition, Ginko quickly moved to retrieve and redeploy infrastructure – preserving client uptime and reaffirming their commitment to resilience.
At the same time, they were reviewing their software stack. VMware licensing costs were climbing, NSX edge performance was inconsistent, and unpredictable billing created planning friction. It was clear that their infrastructure needed to reflect the same high standards they delivered to clients every day.
Ginko partnered with Servers Australia to design an environment tailored to how their MSP actually operated. The goal: a scalable, secure, and easy-to-manage platform that would support current needs while laying a foundation for growth.
The infrastructure rebuild included:
Two dedicated bare metal servers, with AMD EPYC processors, 256GB RAM, and NVMe storage
5TB+ Nimble all-flash shared storage, enabling Hyper-V clustering across client environments
10GbE networking with VLAN segmentation, ensuring client isolation and optimised traffic flow
Migrating from VMware to Hyper-V gave the team greater control while reducing licensing costs. VLANs ensured clients were separated by default, while OpenVPN gateways replaced exposed ports – significantly enhancing security.
Backup was also front of mind. Ginko shifted to a hybrid model, combining local Veeam with offsite backups via Cove. It marked the first time in years they felt true confidence in their recovery posture.
The shift to Servers Australia gave us more than just better performance – it gave us peace of mind. We moved from a reactive, patched-together environment to something robust and professional. It’s not just about technology, it’s about trust. Our clients expect us to protect their operations, and now we can say that with confidence.
– Damian Wiseman, Director, Ginko IT
The onboarding process was highly collaborative. More than 30 support requests were resolved – including network redesigns, firewall configurations, backup architecture, and legacy edge troubleshooting – all handled by Servers Australia’s 24/7 Australian-based engineering team.
The difference in support was immediate. We weren’t waiting in queues or chasing overseas teams. Every request was handled quickly, thoroughly, and by someone who understood our business. That kind of support makes all the difference when you're running an MSP.
– Damian Wiseman, Director, Ginko IT
The transition delivered fast, tangible results. Ginko’s team gained full control of their environment, internal support burdens eased, and backup operations became more consistent and predictable.
Key outcomes included:
Improved infrastructure performance, with faster response times and more predictable operations
Over $44,000 in projected savings, from reduced licensing and optimised billing
Stronger security posture, with isolated environments and hardened remote access
Reduced internal support load, freeing up the team to focus on clients
More reliable backups, with multi-site redundancy and simplified recovery
For Ginko, this wasn’t about fixing something broken. It was about building deliberately. The new infrastructure removed constraints and unlocked capacity to support more clients, more services, and higher standards.
Before, we were constantly applying quick fixes just to keep up – now, we’ve got a solid foundation. The platform just works. We’re not stuck troubleshooting or second-guessing configurations – we’re focused on delivering real value to our clients.
– Damian Wiseman, Director, Ginko IT
With Servers Australia in place, Ginko now operates with the confidence that their infrastructure is as reliable as the services they deliver. They’ve gained the ability to scale without hesitation, knowing the platform is designed to support it.
Future plans include expanding their Hyper-V footprint, refining backup architecture, and exploring multi-site colocation options to support compliance-driven clients.
We’re finally ahead of the curve. We’re not making do – we’re building intentionally. Whether it’s compliance-heavy clients, more complex environments, or just growing the number of sites we manage, we’ve now got a foundation that can handle it.

For MSPs navigating legacy infrastructure or limited platforms, Ginko’s story highlights the benefits of acting before challenges escalate. Their move to Servers Australia was a strategic decision to align their infrastructure with client expectations and business ambition.
The result? Better performance, stronger margins, and more time focused on what matters – delivering value to clients
