Servers Australia expands on national Equinix footprint
Servers Australia announces the expansion of their Data Centre offerings with the addition of Equinix International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) facility in Brisbane.
Sydney – 3rd September 2019 – Servers Australia (an Australian market-leading Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS provider)) has announced the expansion of their Data Centre offering, after signing a deal to include a 6th location; an Equinix IBX in Brisbane named BR1.
In support of their strategic direction focusing on core business rather than data centre management, the Syncom Brisbane Data Centre, which is owned and operated by Servers Australia, will be decommissioned and customers will be migrated to Equinix BR1.
The move supports Servers Australia’s ongoing commitment to expand its national footprint. It’s being driven by their rapid business growth and increased customer uptake following the 2017 acquisition of OzServers, which has taken the existing Syncom Data Centre to operational capacity.
Servers Australia’s latest agreement with Equinix is a continuation of their long-term, trusted relationship, and cements their focus on supporting customers digital transformation journeys and providing more options to customise solutions at the digital edge.
“With the rapid growth rate of our business, it is imperative that we hand over the day-to-day data centre operations to the professional team at Equinix. The move also allows us to focus on our Hybrid Cloud business strategy amongst other innovative service offerings. We have some significant projects in the pipeline for the next 12 months, and this decision was necessary to continue offering exceptional services to our customers” – Jared Hirst, CEO, Servers Australia.
The move into the Brisbane data centre will improve customer experience with increased security, additional levels of compliance certification and the ability to leverage Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric™ (ECX Fabric™).
“Equinix is thrilled to expand our strong and long-standing partnership with Servers Australia and enable fast and reliable services to their global customers and partners, right at the digital edge. Our national footprint fits well with Servers Australia’s growth strategy and its focus on providing fast and reliable services to its customers,” says Glenn Uidam, Senior Director, Operations, Equinix Australia.
Servers Australia has a comprehensive migration plan to minimise and/or avoid the potential impact of the data centre migration. Customers are being kept informed throughout the process and, based on previous experience and successful DC migration projects, Servers Australia is confident that the migration will be successful.
Building on Equinix’s recognition of Servers Australia as its Top Growth Partner (AU) 2018, the expansion of Servers Australia’s footprint solidifies the strength of its relationship with Equinix in the Australian market.
